♥ A Day Full Of Surprises, Both Good and Bad
Yesterday was just full of surprises. I had one class that day, which was FCL 2: A Man of God. (Kinda like a Religion subject, but in an open-minded kind of way... I think what I said contradicts each other lol xD ). And we were like 27 students, some were probably late or absent that time. And yesterday, what do you know, they decided to dissolve the class. The reason: because we a class needs to have at least 35 students to be accepted as a class.
A few days before that, my friend Ice was given permission by our school dean to transfer to our Philippine History with Politics and Governance Class (her reason being that she loathes the professor in her previous class and failed her last semester under the same subject) even though the week for adding/dropping subjects was already gone. And because if that, she needed to have her registration form re-printed with a new list of her classes.
That's when we were told that FCL 2 was already dissolved, which struck us completely. Ana, Ice and I have these dumbfounded looks on our faces. "How could they dissolve our class? We had a meeting last week. It was even inside the chapel because there were no rooms available during that time."
And so, to finally end our endless thoughts and debate, we went to the Computer Science Building where we talked to someone to confirm if our class really was dissolved. Much to our irritation and dismay, the class (according to their database) really was already dissolved a day after we had our first meeting for the subject. Take note that the woman we were talking to talked back to us in a non-professional and rude way. It was like attending to a students' queries or concerns was a pain in her f*ck*n* a** and rudely told us to go to teh Arts and Sciences building because she has had enough of pointing out the fact that we no longer have an FCL 2 class.
So we stomped our pretty little feet outside their office, walked out of their building and proceeded to the CAS office to be really sure. And guess what? The HEad of the FCL Department said that he has not, I repeat, HE HAS NOT submitted our class as one of the dissolved classes. In any case, this made us even angrier. "How could this school funstion properly if their files and their database don't have the same information?!" Ana even had a chance to talk to the professor of our class and he told her that the class is not dissolved.
However, we were assured by the Head of the FCL Department that whatever the result of this mess would be, he would notify us immediately and told us to just attend the next FCL 2 class we have.
So yesterday when we heard the news from our professor that the class really was dissolved, I was pissed. I am intending to graduate by 2011 (unfortunately, as much as I want to graduate by the year 2010, I won't be able to. Even if I take advance subjects. The nearest year I'd be able to graduate really is 2011 without leaving any more subjects behind.) And I intend to pass every semester without leaving any god damn subject behind.
Ana, Ice and I were talking about other options (of whether we can take other subjects or we can find a way to squeeze in to other FCL 2 subjects that were already full inside the campus). It was then Ana received a text message from one of our classmates in that subject and we met them in the Engineering building. The guy who talked to us said he managed to talk to someone (I don't know if it was a professor a head of a department; I was still too pissed off and annoyed to care) and told us that our class was given another option:
In order for our class to be accepted, we need to fill in the four missing students our class needs (the last official count they had was 31 students in our class). And for that, each of us will pay P250. I know you'll be saying like, "Rio is being an overly dramatic and being very cheap!" But I was really on the verge of strangling someone. Their option is STUPID and downright UNFAIR. Why the hell should we pay P250 for ghost students. Does missing four students in a class make any difference to a class of 35 students?
THEY ARE PLAYING WITH US, those filthy money-worshipping school administration people. It's just not right. I mean P250 is already my allowance for two school days. I'm not just going to give that big amount away. My friends and I were debating (and Ice's boyfriend took a step back and walked away while shouting, "Mass Comm nga kayo! Alis muna ako!")
We're waiting for Friday to come so that we will be informed if we really do need to pay. If that's the case, we will head to Ma'am Weng Morta to help us out and plead that she allows us to take the FCL 2 subject being taken by the Mass Comm students, no matter how full it was.
When night time came and dad came home after meeting with his old friends and schoolmates from San Beda, he peeked inside my bedroom and told me to check out my Multiply site. Apparently their headwriter stumbled upon my blog and read my post about the Living Asia Channel and was gave me a good review about it. And it really was a big thing to me because Ate Rosel managed to find my blog. Weird, ain't it? But still, I was glad something good managed to happen yesterday.
