♥ Facing the Giants - a personal movie review
Yesterday, we watched Facing the Giants during our FCL 4 subject. At first I thought it was just a film about football but I was wrong. It was about a coach who felt like everything around him is falling apart and it was all his fault. He and his wife can't have a child, he fails as a coach, and his car is trash. It was when he felt so down and hopeless that he decided to open up the Bible, read the verses and talk to God. He decided to offer all his hopes, his dreams, his goals to God. Whatever happens, if Giod wills him to have no child then so be it. If God doesn't want their football team, then so be it.
And so he turned over a new leaf and decided to talk to his team in a new manner, using the words of God as an inspiration for his team. Win or lose, they will praise God. Nothing is impossible with God. He will lead you to victory as long as you give your very best. From that day on, it seems like he affected everyone with his positive attitude. And in turn, the coach's life became better. The Shiloh team emerged right out of nowhere, beating different high school football teams until they reached the state championship where they faced the Giants, who were a lot stronger and a lot bigger than them. In the end, they won.
I really liked this film because I knew this was the one thing I was looking for. Recently, I've been bombarded with problems and all I can do is cry because I felt that all was lost. I felt like there was nothing I can do but succumb to defeat. Yet, after watching this film (in which I tried my very best to hold back my tears while watching this film in the chapel with my classmates), I felt my prayer was answered through the movie. Right now, I feel like every door of opportunity and optisms has closed and been locked and I can't see any way out. Instead of blaming myself and others and even God, I realized taht during these trying times I should keep my faith stronger and offer everything up to God. Because I know, as long as I do my very best, He will help me and bring me the happiness I deserve.
